As many activities have now returned, voucher claims can be submitted as per the usual voucher redemption process. We will not be requesting refunds for vouchers that have already been paid for activities that may now be postponed/cancelled.

In the first instance, please talk with your provider. Please keep in mind many providers are relaying information from a state or national organisation and they may be inundated with requests, so please be paitient during this time. They may have further advice about postponement, delayed commencement or alternate delivery methods for the activity.

The Sports Vouchers program is a Government of South Australia initiative administered by the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing. The program provides an opportunity for primary school aged children from Reception to Year 7 to receive up to a $100 discount on sports or dance membership/registration fees and learn to swim programs. The purpose is to increase the number of children playing organised sport or participating in dance activities by reducing cost as a barrier.

All South Australian primary school aged children, meaning if the child is attending or is eligible to attend primary school (Reception to Year 7, even if Year 7 is based at a high school). Remember it is one voucher for every primary school aged child per calendar year. To find your nearest provider please use the ‘Find a Provider’ tool.
There are currently two methods of claiming a voucher. The method depends on the providers system. Some providers have online registrations, claiming the voucher has been integrated into their systems.
If the provider does not have the voucher integrated into their online registrations, you’ll need to download the voucher. Once completed, take the voucher to an approved provider to receive a discount on the fees when you register.

Sports Vouchers are available to all South Australian primary school aged children*. Each eligible child is able to claim one voucher per calendar year.

Let the provider know that you want to use your Sports Vouchers entitlement to discount $100 from their membership fee.
You must then provide all the required details** to the provider. The critical piece of information is your child’s eleven (11) digit Medicare number or Australian visa number. The two most common ways to give your child’s details to the provider are:
After you have provided all the details necessary to receive a voucher, the provider must reduce their membership fee by up to $100. You must then pay the remaining balance. The preferred method is to provide the discount to membership fees at the time of payment (eg: membership fees are $200, the parent will pay $100 and the provider will claim the remaining $100 from the Sports Vouchers team). Some providers are unable to offer a discount upfront at the time of registration (due to varying reasons) and in these instances, the parent pays the full membership fee and is refunded the $100 once the provider has received reimbursement from the Sports Vouchers team.
* 'Primary School Aged' currently means where a child is attending or is eligible to attend primary school (between the years Reception to Year 7) in South Australia, even if Year 7 is based at a high school.
** The Sports Vouchers hard copy voucher form specifies all the details that providers need to collect from you.

All claims are reviewed to determine validity. Random audits/surveys and investigations are also conducted. Providers found not complying with the Sports Vouchers Terms and Conditions may be suspended, pending a review.

The Sports Vouchers team will investigate and communicate with you on issues that may hold up a claim. We may contact parents directly with random audits/surveys, date of birth or eligibility issues. These may be removed from the claim and your organisation will have to request full payment from the parent/guardian.
To change your portal login, email firstname.lastname@example.org and copy in the currently registered email address. Advise of the new contact details (full name, email address, phone number). We can then reset login/password details.

What is the eligibility criteria to register as a provider?
All not-for profit clubs and associations that register must be incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1985 or have some other comparable legal status.
All learn to swim providers (not-for profit and for-profit) must be formerly affiliated or registered with Swimming SA, Surf Life Saving SA, AUSTSWIM Limited, The Royal Life Saving Society of Australia (SA Branch), the Australian Swimming Coaches and Teachers Association SA (Swim Australia) or the Australian Swim Schools Association.
Private sport providers (for-profit businesses) are also eligible to register. However, the business must be registered and affiliated or have an agreement with the recognised state or national sporting association for the sport that the business provides.
Private dance providers (for-profit businesses), that are a registered business, are eligible but must be registered with a peak dance association (eg: AusDance SA).

Please note schools do not meet the eligibility criteria.
The nationally agreed definition of sport is 'a human activity involving physical exertion and skill as the primary focus of the activity, with elements of competition where rules and patterns of behaviour governing the activity exist formally though organisations and is generally recognised as a sport.' A list of recognised sports can be found on the Australian Sports Commission website.

All providers must offer a minimum 8 weeks of semi-structured activity. This could be an annual membership, a sport activity every two weeks for 8 sessions or 8 weekly sessions. Come-n-try and other one off experiences will not be considered. Other examples may be negotiated and approved by the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing.
